I would tell you of a time when a core member asked me a brutally honest question that I didn’t have the answer to. I would tell you about the welcome celebrations and goodbye send-offs for assistants. I would offer you a glimpse into the vivid, beautiful and diverse lives that create community life in Chicago.

As she passed over the chip bag to begin our meeting, she opened with this question: “Where did you learn how to be present with people?”
